Ústí nad Labem hospital

We felt the need to design a different character of the hospital pavilion than the usual large buildings that intimidate patients with their appearance. Especially in the case of an oncology pavilion, the psyche of the patient was important to us, so we buried a large part of the radiation technology underground and placed only a few prisms above the ground, stacked differently with the outpatient and inpatient parts. This created a building with an attractive appearance containing a human scale, an important feature of any house.

The model for our proposed concept was the 1985 Prosthetic Pavilion, the only quality building on the entire hospital campus. Because we believe that every building should relate to its location, and because we wanted to pay homage to this architecture, we applied similar principles to the creation of the new pavilion.
