residential building in Prague

title:

location:
Praha-Žižkov

case study:
2017

architects:
David Kudla
Kamila Pohanková
Monika Dorňáková

The design of this residence follows the local relief of the terrain, which rises steeply in the north-south direction, peaking at the beginning of the building plot and then gently descending approximately two storeys to the street. The proposed building takes advantage of this context and creates a horizontal area at the level of the terrain peak, which hides a two-storey car parking area underneath, and orientates the commercial areas towards the street, reinforcing vibrant pedestrian zone. The horizontal surface from which the residential buildings rise is linked by its rich vegetation to the park covering the terrain at its highest point. This solution makes the residential buildings part of the park and the lower two floors part of the street.
